Brilinta 90mg contains ticagrelor, a prescription antiplatelet medicine that works by inhibiting the P2Y12 platelet receptor and reducing platelet activation. How To Use
- Use Brilinta exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- For ACS or a history of MI, the current prescribing information specifies an initial 180mg loading dose, followed by 90mg twice daily during the first year; after one year, the usual dose is 60mg twice daily when continued.
- Brilinta is generally used with a daily aspirin maintenance dose of 75–100mg, unless your doctor gives you a different antiplatelet plan.
- Take doses at approximately the same times each day.
- Do not stop Brilinta on your own because premature discontinuation can increase cardiovascular risk.
- If you miss a dose, take the next scheduled dose rather than doubling the dose.
- Brilinta can cause significant bleeding. It should not be used in people with active pathological bleeding or a history of intracranial hemorrhage.
- Seek urgent medical attention for severe or uncontrolled bleeding, signs of internal bleeding, or serious breathing difficulty.
